USDA Extends Comment Period for Corn Genetically Engineered for Herbicide Tolerance
The public comment period for a petition by Dow AgroScience LLC for corn event DAS-40278-9 seeking a determination of nonregulated status was announced by the US Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service to be extended through April 27, 2012.
The corn event was genetically engineered to provide tolerance to 2,4-D and aryloxyphenoxypropionate acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase inhibitors. APHIS made available for public comment its plant pest risk assessment and draft environmental assessment for DAS-40278-9.
