GAIN Report on Germany's Agricultural Biotechnology

The USDA GAIN Annual Report on Agricultural Biotechnology in Germany is now available at the USDA website. The 11 page report written by Paul Spencer and Leif Erik Rehder highlights the conflicting and mixed government policies and messages, and the negative perception of the public to crop biotechnology. Germany is home to world-class developers of biotech crops which are the major suppliers of biotech seeds and technologies to markets outside of Europe. However, recent developments in policies and perception pushed some companies as well as scientists to seek more conducive research climate abroad.
