Pakistan Kissan Convention Urges Farmers to Go Biotech

Participants at a Kissan (farmers) convention in Faisalabad, Pakistan were urged to adopt agricultural biotechnology to double agriculture and livestock production in a shorter period of time. The convention was organized by the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF).

Vice Chancellor Iqrar Ahmad Khan of UAF told farmers and researchers to update their knowledge on new developments in agriculture. He also said that the Kissan convention is a platform where farmers can share their problems related to agriculture. He assured the university's full cooperation to assist them. Director General of Ayub Research Center Noor-ul-Islam stressed the need to use genetically improved crop varieties to increase production.
