ISU to Offer Distance Learning for Plant Breeders

March 18, 2011

Plant breeders around the world now have the chance to advance their education through the Iowa State University (ISU)'s distance learning Master of Science program under the agronomy department. The program is composed of 12 courses on plant breeding. This was developed after conducting a USDA-funded survey of  plant breeders' learning needs from different companies. According to Thomas Lübberstedt, the director of the program, requirements for the Master of Science in plant breeding could be completed in as little as two years, but most students will probably take four or five years, because they are likely to be working professionals. The program will be offered starting this coming fall.
