Syngenta Receives South Korean Import Approval for Agrisure Viptera Trait

October 29, 2010

South Korea, one of the major importers of U.S. corn has approved Syngenta's biotech corn products carrying the Agrisure Viptera trait. The technology features Vip3A, the industry's first vegetative insecticidal protein for effective control of a broad spectrum of above-ground pests, including corn earworm, black cutworm and fall armyworm. In addition, the trait has demonstrated an ability to significantly reduce development of molds and mycotoxins in field experiments conducted at the Texas A&M University.

The corn hybrid will be available for planting in the U.S. in 2011 and has also received approvals for planting in Canada and Brazil. South Korea joins Australia, Canada, Mexico, the Philippines, Japan and Taiwan which approved importation of the biotech corn hybrid with the said trait.
