Q-bank Databases Officially Launched

June 25, 2010

An online database Q-bank was launched on 22 June 2010 by the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. The database comprises data for regulated plant pest species including bacteria, fungi, insects, nematodes, viruses and viroids, and invasive plants against their taxonomical, phylogenetic and phytosanitary background.

Q-bank will be developed into an indispensable tool for the identification and detection of harmful organisms. Entries are continuously updated by a team of diagnostic specialists of the National Reference Centre of the Dutch Plant Protection Service, and scientists from Wageningen UR and the universities of Amsterdam and Leiden.
