ARS Develops Crop Sequence Calculator

May 9, 2008

Scientists at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Northern Great Plains Research Laboratory have developed a Crop Sequence Calculator in CD format that enables farmers to make choices regarding crop plantings.

ARS reports that the calculator is a decision tool that deals with 16 crops, including corn, barley, flax, sunflower and crops grown to support grazing cattle. The devise uses data from growing 100 combinations of 10 crops from 2002 to 2005.
