Viterra and Evogene to Collaborate on Stress-Tolerant Canola

March 19, 2008

A three-year collaborative effort between agri-business companies Viterra and Evogene Ltd.was forged to develop canola with improved yield and tolerance to abiotic stress. Evogene says that "with the rapid increase in demand for canola oil worldwide, improving abiotic stress tolerance could significantly expand the geographical regions where canola is grown, minimizing the impact stress conditions affecting productivity."

Both companies will also sign a cooperation and project funding agreement with the Canada-Israel Industrial Research and Development Foundation (CIIRDF) in which CIIRDF will provide financial support for the project. Read more on the collaboration at http://www.evogene.com/news.asp?new_id=54
