ISAAA's Norman Borlaug Centenary Emblem

ISAAA releases the Norman Borlaug Centenary emblem as part of the world-wide centenary (25 March 1914 to 25 March 2014) celebrations of the birth of the Nobel Peace Laureate, Norman Borlaug.  The Emblem features the US Congressional gold medal he was awarded, and a sculpture of Borlaug, designed by the renowned sculptor, Benjamin Victor; the original imposing 7 ft tall bronze sculpture was unveiled in the US Capitol in Washington DC on 25 March 2014 during the centenary celebration.

Dr. Norman Borlaug is the founding patron of ISAAA and a long time associate of ISAAA founder and emeritus chairman Dr. Clive James. Dr. Norman Borlaug is credited with saving 1 billion people from hunger and is known as the father of the Green Revolution. The recently launched ISAAA Brief 46 (Global Status of Commercialized Biotech/GM Crops 2013) authored by Dr. James is dedicated to Dr. Borlaug's legacy and advocacy of biotech crops.

The ISAAA Borlaug emblem was officially released during ISAAA's Annual Biotech Information Network meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam from 17-21 March 2014. ISAAA has dedicated the Borlaug emblem, to the 18 million farmers in 27 countries who elected to grow biotech crops in 2013 to improve farm productivity, increase farmers' income, enhance agricultural sustainability and alleviate poverty and hunger. The ISAAA Borlaug Emblem was designed by the staff of the ISAAA South Asia office, New Delhi, India.
