Ireland Announces 2013 Bioenergy Scheme for Willow and Miscanthus
The Republic of Ireland's Ministry of Agriculture announced the launch of the 2013 Bioenergy Scheme to grant aid on planting of willow and miscanthus crops which are the two potential sources of biofuel. The Bioenergy Schemes have supported the planting of some 3,250 hectares of energy crops in the country since 2007.
According to Simon Coveney TD, Ireland's Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, the early launch of the Bioenergy Scheme for 2013 will help to build on the progress made since 2007 in developing the energy crops sector in Ireland. It will also provide an opportunity for prospective growers to make an early decision on planting energy crops in 2013.
